We’re excited to share the latest edition of the APCOVE Quarterly Newsletter!

This issue highlights the strong momentum building across APCOVE Phase II as we enter its most intensive period. From outbreak investigation workshops in the field to new leadership milestones and a growing international reputation, this edition reflects the dedication and impact of our consortium partners, mentors, and trainees across the Asia-Pacific region.

Highlights from this edition:

• Outbreak Investigation Workshops: Frontline veterinary professionals in Cambodia and Laos are building practical skills in outbreak preparedness and response through hands-on field-based training.
• Intermediate Field Epidemiology Training: Forty applied research projects are now underway across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, tackling priority animal health and zoonotic disease challenges in local contexts.
• One Health Training: Ten cross-country training priorities have been identified, guiding the co-development of a practical Applied One Health curriculum for delivery later in 2026.
• Educator and Mentor Training: Co-design of ten eLearning teaching and mentorship modules is progressing, with a face-to-face workshop planned for Singapore in November 2026.
• Congratulations: Celebrating the promotion of Professor Widagdo Sri Nugroho at Universitas Gadjah Mada and the appointment of A/Professor Vannaphone Putthana as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the National University of Laos.
• Impact Story: Thuy Hoang shares how APCOVE Field Epidemiology Training sparked her journey from research assistant in Vietnam to PhD student at the University of Sydney.
• International Engagement: APCOVE welcomed leading Japanese veterinary epidemiologists to explore how the Consortium’s model might inform field epidemiology training in Japan.
