Dr Amanda Duarte Barbosa is a Senior Lecturer in One Health, Veterinary Public Health, and Epidemiology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Murdoch University. She holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, a PhD in Veterinary Sciences from Murdoch University, Australia, and has four years of post-doctoral experience. Dr. Barbosa specializes in the molecular epidemiology of vector-borne pathogens affecting dogs, cattle, wildlife, and humans. Her research focuses on developing innovative diagnostic technologies, including point-of-care tests, and investigating the phylogeny, evolution, and clinical and zoonotic impacts of these pathogens. Her work is vital for enhancing diagnostic and management strategies for vector-borne diseases, improving global health outcomes, and strengthening biosecurity measures. Dr. Barbosa’s dedication to teaching and scientific research underscores her commitment to advancing health at the animal-human-environment interface.
