Senior Lecturer

Dr Art Subharat has been a senior lecturer in veterinary epidemiology at the EpiCentre since 2017. He has a research background in veterinary epidemiology, immunology, microbiology and molecular biology. He has been involved in livestock diseases research e.g. FMD, Johne’s disease, bovine mastitis and tuberculosis and other zoonotic diseases (leptospirosis and rabies).
His current research focuses on epidemiology, socio-economic impact and development of risk-based control strategies for FMD in South-East Asia. He also manages the OIE SEACFMD control program funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Art has teaching experience both nationally and internationally. He coordinates and teaches Postgrad and Undergrad papers at the EpiCentre. He also develops and delivers international trainings for the OIE SEACFMD program in basic epidemiology, geographic information systems, training of trainers, disease monitoring and surveillance in order to strengthen capability of veterinary services in South-East Asia.
