Dr. January M. Nones is a graduate of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños in 2005. She also completed the Certificate in Emerging Infectious Disease Research Program from the University of Florida in 2012. Currently, she works for the Philippines Department of Agriculture – National Meat Inspection Service as a Chief Meat Control Officer. Before joining the NMIS in 2012, she started government work in 2008 as a Laboratory Technologist for the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Eradication Project at the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Animal Industry and briefly at the City of Makati – Veterinary Services Office. She started her career as a companion animal veterinarian in 2005.
She is a Diplomate member of the Philippine College of Veterinary Epidemiologists, after her completion of the APCOVE online course on Field Veterinary Epidemiology, conduct of a research project on antimicrobial resistance surveillance data analysis, and presentation of the results at the SAFETYNET Scientific Conference held last September 2023 in Canberra, Australia.
She has a very active role in various committees and working groups in the country such as the Codex Subcommittee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods and Codex Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance.
