Dr. Mary Katherine O’Brien is an education researcher with 20 years of experience working in the areas of global education and, more recently, online education for capacity building for veterinary and public health professionals. She received a doctoral degree in Comparative and International Development Education from the University of Minnesota in 2015 and currently works at the Center for Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS) at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. With Dr. Andrés Perez, O’Brien directs ProgRESSVet, a systematic education program for members of the national veterinary services with current offerings in Latin America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. O’Brien also serves as the CAHFS liaison to the OIE: World Organisation for Animal Health eLearning Platform committee in fulfillment of CAHFS’ mission as an OIE Collaborating Center for Capacity Building for National Veterinary Services.
