Senior Veterinarian

Doctor Sith Premashthira is a senior veterinarian with the Bureau of Disease Control and Veterinary Services in the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand. His PhD, undertaken in 2012 at the University of Colorado, investigated simulation modelling for assessing control strategies for foot and mouth disease. Since then, his work has continued to focus on foot and mouth disease epidemiology and control. In his research he has also investigated avian influenza, especially in free-grazing ducks.

Currently, he heads the Regional Field Epidemiology training program for veterinarians in Thailand, and is Thailand’s representative for the ASEAN Veterinary Epidemiology Group. Dr Premashthira is also National coordinator for the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) Sub-commission for Foot and mouth disease control in Southeast Asia and China.
